Market watch APAC
Markets were generally quiet overnight, ahead of US inflation data tonight. However, equities continued their push higher on the back of strong tech stocks.
The S&P 500 rose 1.0% and the NASDAQ 1.2% with both posting fresh record highs, once again.
European equities were also strong, with the Euro Stoxx 50 up 1.1% and the FTSE 100 up 0.7%.
The US dollar continued its slide against most majors although JPY weakness is still ongoing, with the USD/JPY at decade highs, trading above 161.
Gold and copper were up slightly, however iron ore tumbled 3.6% to US$106.60 per metric tonne.
The AUD remains strong, holding onto recent gains above .67 cents. Across the pond the RBNZ left the OCR unchanged at 5.50%, as expected.
However, the brief statement was less hawkish than markets had anticipated.
