Reflecting on a Year of Memories at GPS Capital Markets: A Farewell to 2024

|

This year has been filled with milestones, memorable moments, and unforgettable experiences at GPS Capital Markets, culminating in our acquisition by Corpay Cross-Border Solutions in December. While we are excited about what the future holds as part of the Corpay family, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible experiences that helped define GPS.

Over the years, GPS has developed a unique sense of camaraderie and togetherness that has made our work environment feel more like a community. From office celebrations to friendly competitions, the memories we’ve created together have been a testament to the people who make GPS what it is. We’re looking forward to the new year and to bonding with new Corpay coworkers we’re just getting to know.

A Year of Memorable Events

Some of the most popular events we’ve held in 2024 included the start-of-year Global Kick-Off (GKO), Christmas Dinner, Lagoon Day, GPS’ Birthday celebrations, Office Olympics, the Halloween Party, March Madness, and the Huntsman SportsFest. These events not only allowed us to bond but also gave us the opportunity to celebrate achievements, support one another, and, most importantly, have fun.

After surveying GPS employees, the Christmas Dinner was a top favorite. Every year, this event brings our teams together to celebrate the season, unwind after a busy year, and share in the joy of the holidays. For many, it’s the perfect chance to relax with colleagues, reflect on the year’s accomplishments, and enjoy some good food and even better company.

1559602750647Ashley Tullis, Office Administrator at GPS, reflected, “The Christmas Dinner was a fantastic opportunity to relax with colleagues and celebrate our hard work. The camaraderie and team spirit were evident as we all gathered for a festive meal and shared laughs.” It was clear that this event captured the true spirit of togetherness that has been a hallmark of GPS.

Another favorite was the Global Kick-Off (GKO) in January. It’s always a great chance to connect with colleagues, share successes from the previous year, and align on goals for the upcoming year. The energy at GKO was electric, and it served as a reminder of the global reach of GPS Capital Markets. It’s moments like these that make us proud of the company we’ve built and the relationships we’ve formed.

Lagoon Day and GPS’ Birthday: A Time for Team-Building

Lagoon Day and the GPS’ Birthday celebrations were another set of events that allowed our team to bond. Lagoon Day was filled with outdoor activities that everyone’s family could participate in. Whether it was team challenges or just spending time going on rollercoasters together, it was a perfect opportunity to strengthen the connections between colleagues.

We’ve also joined together to support cancer research and participate in humanitarian work. Lindsey Wing, Public Relations Manager at GPS, shared her thoughts on another memorable team-building event: “One of my favorite things we do at GPS is gathering for the Huntsman Sportsfest charity event. I love seeing everyone happy to support such a good cause and truly wanting to help give back. Getting the team together on bikes or on foot is always fun and memorable.” Events like these created a sense of purpose, as we came together to support a cause that mattered to us all.

Utah Headquarters’ Love of Sports

Mark AllenScreenshot 2024 08 13 134253 e1734642911506, FX Trading & Derivatives at GPS, shared his excitement about one of the year’s most anticipated events, the College Pick’ems competition: “This year’s College Pick’ems has forever raised the bar on picking weekly college football winners and was not for the faint of heart! A shout out to Colton and John for coining the ‘Coltar Bet,’ the ‘Coltar Bank,’ and raising ‘The Parlay’ to a point where it’s practically a part of our daily vernacular. Loans, interest, early payoffs, bell curves?! We are still talking about college sports, right? Thanks to an ingenious blend of the principles of probability, loans, (and a little luck) everybody stood a fair chance every week to summit the leaderboard. Despite calls for audits, the picks kept coming, and a different leader surfaced almost every week. Thanks for keeping it interesting late into the season.”

The March Madness basketball bracket also brought out the competitive nature of our team, with employees vying for the top spot while discussing their favorite college basketball teams. These events helped build a sense of community and made for some unforgettable moments.

Building Relationships Across the Company

Throughout all of these events, one thing was clear: the relationships we built at GPS Capital Markets were the heart of our company. John Nigliazzo’s monthly Happy Hour was a prime example of how we created a space for employees to connect across departments.

Allen put it best when he said: “John Nigliazzo’s monthly Happy Hour has been a highlight of the year. His enthusiasm to reach across departments and take colleagues on a deep dive into a wide array of topics has inspired better understanding of the work we do and the possibilities around us. Don’t let the shiny shirt fool you! John is an FX quant expert that can apply his knowledge and methods to a broad field of subjects. But unlike most quants, he possesses an aptitude for interpersonal communication. His expertise, enthusiasm, energy, and ability have combined to create numerous stimulating and memorable discussions.”

Our ability to engage with one another, collaborate, and support each other is a key factor in our success.

A Fond Farewell to GPS Capital Markets

As we look ahead to our future with Corpay Cross-Border Solutions, we’ll always value the memories made at GPS Capital Markets. The relationships, the celebrations, and the shared experiences are the things that will remain with us long after this chapter closes. Thank you to every member of the GPS family who made this year one to remember.
